Every child deserves access to medical care, safety and hope. PCRF works every day to provide that support to children and families affected by conflict.

Who is PCRF?

Strings for Palestine was created to raise funds for the Palestine Children's Relief Fund (PCRF), a humanitarian organisation dedicated to providing medical care, humanitarian relief and specialised treatment to children across Palestine and the wider Middle East. Founded in 1991, PCRF works to ensure that children can access life-saving healthcare regardless of nationality, ethnicity or religion. Today, the organisation supports a wide range of medical, rehabilitation and humanitarian programmes, while also helping to strengthen local healthcare services and provide specialist treatment that would otherwise be unavailable.

Over the past three decades, PCRF has sponsored hundreds of medical missions involving volunteer doctors, surgeons and nurses from around the world. These teams have provided free specialist care for children suffering from serious illnesses and injuries, while also helping to train local healthcare professionals and improve long-term medical capacity within the region. The organisation supplies medical equipment and medicines, supports rehabilitation programmes and provides direct assistance to vulnerable children and families living through conflict and hardship.

Why is their work needed?

The need for this work has never been greater. The war in Gaza has had a devastating impact on children and families. According to UNICEF, more than 64,000 children have been killed or injured since October 2023, while over 56,000 children have lost one or both parents. Homes, hospitals and schools have been destroyed or severely damaged, depriving families of safety and access to essential services. Across Gaza, children continue to face displacement, hunger, disease, trauma and the long-term effects of interrupted healthcare and education.

For children facing serious illness, injury or long-term health conditions, organisations such as PCRF provide a vital lifeline. Through emergency medical care, specialist treatment, rehabilitation programmes, mental health support and humanitarian assistance, PCRF helps children and families access services that would otherwise be beyond reach. The organisation also works to strengthen local healthcare systems, rebuild specialist medical services and support the long-term recovery of communities affected by conflict.

How does this album help?

This compilation was born from a simple belief: that music communities should not remain silent in the face of human suffering. Every artist involved has donated their work freely, contributing unreleased recordings, rare tracks and new compositions in support of this cause. While no album can undo the loss, grief and destruction experienced by so many Palestinian families, it can raise funds, awareness and solidarity.
